The Comprehensive Center Network consists of 21 centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Five national content centers provide resources and support to 16 regional comprehensive centers. Each of the 16 regional centers provides resources and technical assistance to the states in its region. For more information on the center serving your state, click on the map.
National Content Centers
Great Lakes West Resources are structured according to the five content areas of the national content centers, and also include information on No Child Left Behind (NCLB), national networks and centers, and additional resources.
Assessment and Accountability
Resources and information to help districts and states develop, implement, and evaluate assessment and accountability systems based on status and growth; and to develop skills in using data, large-scale and formative assessments, and statewide data systems.
Innovation and Improvement
Resources for innovation, such as parental options and parent choice, charter and magnet schools, and supplemental educational services (SES). Resources for school improvement, such as restructuring; statewide issues of support; and practices, policies, and components to successfully move schools forward.
Instruction
Resources and information on scientifically based research and practices for Grades K–12 instruction in the subject areas of reading, mathematics, and science, with attention to the needs of special education students and English language learners (ELLs).
Teacher Quality
Resources and information relating to teacher preparation, recruitment and retention, and certification and licensure. This area also includes distribution and placement of highly qualified teachers in at-risk and hard-to-staff schools.
High School
Information and resources in the areas of high school curriculum and instruction, transition into high school, graduation, dropout prevention, high school redesign and equity, and access to learning.
No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
Information and resources related to NCLB implementation and policy as well as U.S. Department of Education, Illinois, and Wisconsin NCLB information sites.
National Networks and Centers
Information on various networks and centers that provide assistance to state and local education agencies.
Additional Resources
Resources and information not related to a specific content area covered by the national content centers.
